Late in January, I got a shiny new V262. I live in a rural area and had *zero* connectivity in my house, so I bought a 7dB external antenna and adapter to fit the jack on the V262.
Well, to make a long story short, in about a month, it got to where it would only work with an antenna plugged in. Even standing in the Alltel store where it got 5 bars when new, it said "no service" after a month.
The dorks at the store said I got an antenna too big and burned out the phone. So I had it sent in on warranty.
My question is: Is this true? If so, what is the max antenna I should use? And, since I don't want to go thru this again, do the "passive repeater" thru-the-glass antennas I see around really work?
Thanks for any info.
