I got the unlock codes for both the V600 and the A630 from my provider and need some clarification on the instructions they sent me.

For the V600, the instructions say "Before you start you must have a foreign (non-T Mobile) SIM card entered into the handset.", Since I'm not going out of the country for a while, is there any way to unlock without having to put in a "foreign" SIM card?

The instructions for the A630 doesn't require me to have a "foreign" SIM card, so I wanted to confirm that this was ok too? I don't want to mess up anything, which is why I'm asking.

    Thanks in advance.

well, if the provider sent you the unlock codes they should also have sent you instructions on how to enter the code, but if they werent given to you, you can call the T-Mobile and they will give you instructions over the phone. When i unlocked a v300, which i am assuming unlocks the same way as the v600 or the a630, i just entered the code in with the instructions t-mo sent me and it unlocked fine, so i know you dont have to have a foreign sim, but your best bet is to call customer care and asking them for help and as for the SIM unlock department, hope this helps

I think what they meant was that you need to use a sim card that's not from your current carrier. i.e. Cingular, Nextel just for unlocking purposes, you can borrow one from a friend, i used my old un-activated ATT sim card when i unlocked my Razr..
