Charger Time?!?

I asked this awhile ago and got one answer from Invizzible (THANKS!!!) but i need a little more info and no one else was replying so im putting it in a new thread:

I asked:
Hi. I have a v551 and i was just wondering what the charger time option is under car settings? my dad has been having trouble with his battery life and he mostly charges his phone in the car. Any help would be appreciated.

Some battery chargers will start a whole new charge cycle each time the car is turned off and on, regardless of the charge state of your battery. The charge time settings on your 551 allow your phone to stop charging after a designated period of time to prevent overcharging.

And I said:

ok..so my dad practically only charges up his phone while in the car and he has noticed that his battery lasts longer if he charges it up through the regular ac outlet charger. Should he just set the charge time to the max setting (8 hrs.)? Or is there really a problem with overcharging? Oh...and also, my dad uses an off-brand charger called "Just Wireless". Should he buy a motorolla made one? are they better?
