I currently have a Samsung x427m and I can have the phone within two feet of me and no one will ever hear it ring. No, I am not hard of hearing either. I am looking for a reasonably priced Motorola phone (GSM, SIM) that has an extremly loud ringer. Tired of getting my butt chewed for not answering my phone.

    Any ideas?

You gotta admit that the Nascar folks who use Nextel are even more vocal...when you walk into a store and hear someone almost shouting into a phone or walkie-talkie you know its a Nextel customer

You said you want a GSM phone, go with the Moto v551, set it on the standard ringtone, that should be loud enough, if not you can always download a loud rigntone onto your Samsung.

The volume wasn't enough for me even on my V3 (and other moto fones I have read) so I performed "seem editing" of the gain table which controls the volumes of each item separately (video, audio, ring, keypad, earpiece, speaker, ring) although some of them are grouped in that alteration raises or lowers the range of more than one feature...it's easy and can be done with some free software downloads (a seem reader and uploader called P2K and a hexadecimal editor called XVI32) ...you will also need a connection from your xp computer to your fone (a usb cable or a bluetooth device). Go here for that: http://www.motox.us/motox101/seem_editing.htm and then you need to have a guide telling you what to change (make backup copies of everything you change so if it doesn't work you can restore it and look at the details to see what you did wrong)...a cool guide with step-by-step instructions is here: http://xlr8.us/hofo/ and a detailed list of all the seem locations where you can change stuff is here: http://xlr8.us/hofo/map.txt ...remember, you should read EVERYTHING before you start...and BACK UP your SEEMS before you change them and upload the new ones so you aren't SOL if you mess up!! Overall, it's easy! Here's another well done guide: http://www.mark-world.com/Motorola/index.html You can't go wrong if you read plenty first and understand what you are doing!!

Seem editing does wonders, but most just want and easy way to upgrade their ringer loudness.
