Where do you live, Rob? I just activated a 551 for my wife today, and I have a co-worker with the same phone and she hasn't had any signal problems. We're in the LA area and so far so good; I'll keep you posted.

I wish I knew what the problem is! I am on my 2nd Moto V551. It will sound like the call has gone dead. The the people on the other end can hear me. Then sometimes when they call me and I answer, same thing. It shows that the call is still there! Eventually the the call drops and I have to call back. One evening I tried to talk to my daughter 5 times in a row, and each time it dropped like that. We gave up.
The people at Cingular have 'sent signals' to me, I've rebooted, blah blah, etc., etc., got a replacement phone, and am still having the same problem with the replacement phone. I'm so fed up with Cingular.

it all depends basically on the area you're in. seems like cingular has pretty good coverage in most west coast areas, but i dont know how they are on the east coast or midwest

same problems here
just got my cingular cell phone last week and keep getting dropped, I gave up sprint after 2 years of excellent service.
I think its the networks. 850/1800/900/ 1900 quad band
where I live has the older cell towers wit hthe 850/1900 band
then when I go into the city they have new 900/1800 band towers
so each switch of cell bands drops my signal and disconnects users. I've tried to change my network settings just to one of the 2 band sand everytime I go driving the signal dies and stays dead which means there alot of different cell towes frequencies in each city.

I live in Tampa and my service was ok at first but now have horrible service. Dropped calls, phone freezing up,etc. I also have dealt with cs and they've been polite and sent signals, etc, to no avail. I spoke to another cin user today and said his 2 Mot V551 and V400 had horrible problems. Cin store told him they have problems with those phones and he bought a Nokia. He's been happy ever since. I'm about to blow a haystack if I don't get some resolution. I'd buy another phone but don't want to spend the money if I'll be in the same situation. Sorry, just venting. Want to know if anyone has heard something like this.
