I have a v171 model phone and motorola "claims" it features a internet access on the phone to download ringtones etc. I'm also with net10 but when I looked to see if I had internet it didn't. I called the service provider to see if they could activate it and said wasn't possible. Yet it says on the cover of the box that I can download ringtones. What should I do?

hey there, you fell into the trap many of us average joes fell into... thinking a company owned by trafone could offer real modern fones. I seriously dont see how they get away with selling the 'v171' as a motorola v171. the features are cut in half.not just un usable, but coml;etely removed from the fone.you cant even unlock the fone to use with other gsm providers.the "downloadable" ringtones are something they just now got around to posting up,on the net10 website.the problem is, the fone can only recieve monphonic ringtones via sms.i dont even think it can receive wallpapers or animations.of course it doesnt have the internet, its a prepaid no contract no info fone.but i did think it would at least have some of the capabilities of a real v171.all it has is talking, sms, and ringtone composer.on top of it all, net10 doesnt even seem to know what they are doing. It's a SIM dependent phone and they didnt even issue me a sim password or anything.I accidentally locked my sim, couldnt undo it, and they told me the ONLY way to fix it was to send me a new sim card.after it took a week to get here, they acted confused when i called them and said it would take 10 days if i wanted to keep the same number! and so much for all the txt msgs i was recieceing those 2 weeks and my entire sim dependent address book.I made the store i bought it from exchange me for a new one, then i exchanged the new, unopened phone for store credit (and bought groceries.) so heres what you should do.search the net, find all the millions of negative reviews, get motorola on your side(Net10 made there v171 look even worse than it was) and bring about a technical lawsuit on net10/tracfone. split the winnings/settlement with me and we can afford real cell phones that actually have the capabilities that the model name of the phone is suppossed to ensure are avalible.
