Hey, I'm looking for a new phone and I was looking into Motorola. I've never heard many good things about them, and some terrible stories about keys rubbing on screens (although I've heard this problem has gotten smaller). A friend of mine has a Motorola V551. When holding it and playing with it it just felt flimsy, and sounded weird when you opened/closed it. Almost like it wasn't sturdy. The menus and everything also looked, well, cheap. Are all Motorolas like this or are there some models worth looking into? (I do not need many of the high-end or expensive features, as I do not wish to spend more than 275-300 dollars on a new phone) Thanks for the help

I have an older model Motorola (the V400) and have nothing but good things to say about it. It is pretty sturdy as proven by my mother who seems to have the worst grip of any human alive, the sound is good although the speaker phone is lacking, and I have never had any problems with keys scratching the screen.

I have a v551 and the only problem that I had with it was bad battery life...but that's because I bought mine when it first came out and since then they have updated the firmware. So if you were to go get one now, it should work just fine. The camera isn't the best, but it works

I think no matter what brand phone you choose comsumers will never be satisfied, just think of how far and how much technology is going into handsets now a days, if anything we should be thankful of the features we're getting.....like all electronics, there will always be some that have software issues and Motorola is no exception, but their quality has improved dramatically in the las few years...just my two.

Like everyone they have some cheap phones, but my old V60i was built like a tank. I can’t tell you how many times I threw the thing on the ground, not necessarily pavement, but hard floor. Don’t ask why but almost every time I got drunk my phone would take a beating. Eventually the antenna broke off, they could not get me the part, so I custom made my own, yea probably not the best idea but it actually worked and the phone got better service with it, I used it like that for a few months, but eventually that broke and my friend gave me his old V60i which I also beat on for a half a year or so and it still works today. I now have a Razr and I baby it, but it seems very well built.

And yes, I don't expect to find a phone built perfectly and nothing be less than what I expect..but I also don't want it to creak when I open and shut it... not sure how much thats askin for. But, I will open my mind to a few motorolas knowing all is not lost!! hehe thanks a bunch
