No, they are not free. IM's are billed as SMS.

depending on the provider of course... but yeah, each message is generally a text. A friend and I burned up 100ish in a 10-15 minute conversation.

Anytime you change an option on AIM (sign on, refresh buddy list, add buddy, delete buddy, etc) it counts as a text, as well as IMing back and forth. I remember in 3 days i used 1000 texts because of AIM. So if you dont have texts BE CAREFUl!! WOOOOOO!!!

Oh and btw... do remember to logout when texting... don't merely flip the cellphone shut.

Excellent advice Vidguy! Refreshing to see such posts after seeing the likes of well... some folks on here... Nice to see a true expert on this forum.

I agree, excellent advice Vid, unlike a post i just read previously where some guy agreed that selling a phone that has been dropped in feces was a good idea, can you believe this guy calls himself an expert?

Btw, that was a smart move to rephrase your post Aqbar.

Is there any chance that AIM is free for Cingular? i am just leaving it on, or is it still going to count the KB? And if you think about .01cent/KB is ALOT. i really hope that isnt true about the .01cent/KB.
I know that IM's will be counted as SMS texting, thats not what concerns me, i am worried about leaving my AIM on, and then getting charged a "XXX" dollars.

it is true about the .01 cent a KB* but when you sign off it usually will say BYTES* transfered not KB so lets say you use 96,000 BYTES* have been transfered that will equal only 93.75 KB* so you would only be looking at like .93 cents .........but if it sayed 96,000 KB* transfered then your screwed!..LOL
