I'm thinking of getting the Motorola MPX 220 for my new cell phone in January 15 because I'm renewing my cell phone contract with Cingular and I'm upgrading my cell phone.
My current cellphone is pretty bad, so I have plenty of good reason to wanting a good looking, and yet, good perofrming cell phone.

I'm just wondering if anyone has a Motorola MPX220, and if so, how do you like it? Would it be possible for you to either post some good things about it here and some bad, or make a cell phone review in this forum?

And if someone can please help me find out how much this costs? (I'm getting a discount on any phone I'm about to get so... I'm not really scared of any price below $250. I mean... it is below $200 isn't it? Please help me figure this out. Since I'm having troubles of which phone to get and the Motorola MPX 220 looks great and sounds like it performs just as well!

Hi, I'm new to the forum, but I thought I'd throw in my .02

I switched to Cingular about 6 months, right after they took the MPX220 off the market... got the Razr... nice phone, but I didn't like it personally... seemed too much like a play pretty than a phone...

brought it back within the 30 days, and they recommended the audiovox 5600... it was a smartphone, which I liked, but I have a preference for a flip-phone...

sold it to someone, and got the mpx220 with a 1GB mini-sd card... did the upgrades from motorola (must do that), and don't have much trouble out of mine... its windows, so it has its probs, but is a good design, and seems sturdy... I've had it for about 4 months w/ no probs.

It’s a good phone... Be warned, it’s windows… need to be good with Computers and Microsoft… Making the data cable a must… Had mine for about a year, personally would like to go a Palm Pilot phone, the Palm is just better for third party programs. The big reason I picked this over the Treo 650, I can shove this in my pocket without breaking that totally unnecessary stick/nub antenna. One very nice thing is the ring tones… If you can edit the music into 10sec clips, that’s about how long it will ring… It’s right in the manual how to put them over to the phone. When shopping for ring tones, never find this phone on the list for that very reason. Hope I was a help.

I find the mpx220 to be the most custom modifieable/configurable phone out there.

I've installed the latest Asian ROM in mine, customized a VERY complex and complete theme with plugins and enhancements that I like "just for me".

It DOES require a lot of familiarity with Windows Registry edits, but there are plenty of websites and software out there to help you do most anything you would like to do with this phone.

Here are some good sites for the MPX220:

Does not sound surpising... My mpx220 ringer will not use most of my mp3's at all.. to low of a bit rate.. I found cutting short sounds clips from the mp3's, coverting them over to .wav and placing the file directly to the onboard memorey in the ringtone folder very effective.

Re: Motorola MPX 220- Anyone here have it?

I love this phone! I use it as an MP3 player a lot with my Plantronics M40S Stero Headset. I have had NO problems with it what-so-ever! I got it on eBay for pretty cheap.
