Motorola V557 claims to be have SCREEN3 technology. What is that? It looks same as another model ( I dont remember the model #), but is it an upgrade on other phones. I saw http://www.coolcellulardeals.com offering this phone for Free. I am itching to get this one.

Basically Stan it's just a scrolling ticker on the bottom of the screen, that *AS LONG AS YOU ARE GETTING FREE CONTENT*, it doesn't cost you anything, no data charges through Medianet or whatever Internet services other carriers might have when they start selling the phones.

Is it worth it? Can't tell since I normally have it turned off myself. It's nice to look at as a new thing to play with, but unless you happen to have a data plan, it can get pretty spendy really fast signing up for *paid* channels, since you are paying the monthly for the channel and the data charges as well (which will add up very quickly if you are using a pay as you go data plan. *OUCH*

I don't spend that much time looking at my phone's screen, so once the novelty (during the getting to know the phone stage, which was about 1 hour), I shut the feature off.

Grant it you can sign up for things like weather and local traffic, but sticking your head out the window will help with that, if you pull your head back in and it's wet... it's raining. If you are sitting is rush hour traffic going no miles an hour, do you really need you phone telling your there is a backup?

But I'm sure for many people, having a ticker for news and sports headlines, weather and many other things internet releated, on a phone. Me personally, I would want a bigger screen (PDA sized at least), over a hand held flip phone. But again that's me.
