I have a Motorola IHF1000 Bluetooth carkit and a Samsung SPH-A900 cell phone. When driving and Bluetooth enabled, I receive frequent phantom phone calls. The carkit sounds a phone ringing alert but when I press the answer button, I get the message "call ended". This happens frequently. I checked my phone "missed calls" area and call history but nothing is there. Also, my actual cell phone does not ring/vibrate during these phantom incoming calls. Neither Samsung nor Motorola responds to support requests. Has anyone encountered these phantom calls?

Beofre pressing a button to answer the phone, have you looked at the phone to see if anything pops up on the screen to indicate who the call is from? I'm wondering if it has anything to do with other bluetooth products interferring with yours.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have been watching the phone and nothing happens. I have spent several hours on the phone with Samsung reps and they think the A900 phone is sending out some kind of signal (or relaying an incoming signal) that rings the car kit but not the phone. Samsung has only recived a few complaints of this phenomenon with 'third party" car kits and none using Samsung car kits. I was willing to try the Samsung car kit (though it is not nearly as advanced as the Motorola) except the warranty statement says that if you open the package you can't return it. This is bizarre since you won't know if the car kit works (or is damaged) unless you open the package. Duh! Anyway, we are going to try the Samsung kit to see what happens. As an aside, one of our employees has a Motorola phone and has no issues with the Motorola car kit. Everyone using the Samsung A900 is having problems. Thanks again for the reply.

    Steve....

Glad to be of assistance. I worked for Cingular Wireless from 1998 to 2001 so I am fairly familiar with the technology. My first thought when reading your original post was that the problem was being caused by the fact that you're using a Motorola car kit with a Samsung phone & that it was a lack of sync.

    Binx,
Thanks for the additional feedback. I also figured the problem was a proprietary situation where the Samsung phone is incompatible with the Motorola car kit...even though Samsung and Motorola said the phone and kit should work. Apparently the phone is either relaying an incoming signal or generating its own that causes the car kit to think an incoming call is occuring. We are going to order and try the Samsung kit. If it works properly, I'll advise through this string. Same if it fails. The weird thing is the phantom ringing occurs in different areas at different times. As if someone nearby is transmitting (radio or otherwise) and my phone receives it. The signal is sufficiently different to know its not a call but the car kit thinks it is.

As a followup, I finally 9after two weeks of calls) reached a Samsung tech that admitted the A900 phone has a Bluetooth flaw and that it isn't compatible with any car kit. Sam sung says they are "working on it". So, I would stay well away from Samsung....they have no credibility with me.
