Ok I bought my V710 off of ebay from a person with 100% feedback and everything is working perfect execpt bluetooth. Ok i got 3 friends all with Razor phones and 2 of them have Cingular and my girlfriend has Alltel just like me. My 2 friends have sent there ringtones to my girlfriend so I guess it doesnt matter which provider u got. So when I turn my bluetooth on and my friends and G/F do the same, but it always says "No Devices Found". I was wondering what my problem is and how can I fix it? I had to call 1-800-Alltel1 to even get the phone to work. I had to punch in some numbers and all that stuff, but I was just wondering if it had something to do with my bluetooth not working. I cant even get online with my phone to BUY some ringtones. It always says " Servers Down" . PLEASE HELP!
Thanx~

Well, would it have anything to do with the fact that he has a CDMA phone & his girlfriend & his friends all have GSM phones?

yes its a verizon phone....but I dont understand why that would matter because 1 of my friends had a nokia and he was trading ringtones with them 2. Plus my G/F has Alltel and she was also getting tones with BT. Why cant I even connect to the net though to buy some tones?

So with a Verizon BT enabled phone, you can't use the phone to talk to BT printers, BT enabled computers, BT phones to share contacts, pictures or ringtones, UNLESS you take said phone and flash it with the software from a non-Verizon phone.
And the reason you can't connect to the net using this phone, is you do not have the settings from your cellular provider plugged into the web access setup in your phone to allow it to work with your provider's internet access settings.
***Warning really bad analogy coming*** Internet access settings are kinda like trying to call your Mom using speed dial, but the number that's in speed dial is some other number, other than one that will connect you with your mom. You can press that speed dial number forever, and as long as it's not your mom's number, it's never going to connect with her. Verizon uses different settings than Cingular, which both use different settings than Sprint, who all use different settings that t-moble, etc etc.
If this company you are using is Verizon then call them up and get the settings, if this company is not Verizon you will need to call your company and hopefully they can help you with getting it setup, for net access.
So once those internet default internet settings have been changed in the phone, you should be able to access the internet without any problems.

.... what does CDMA have to do with bluetooth? bluetooth is a means of communication between devices that, as far as I've learned, has nothing to do with the service provider.... do I need to be schooled here? The same bluetooth dongle works with any phone that is capable (Verizon's crippling can be overridden)
The problem is MOST likely that the v710 WAS a verizon phone and still has Verizon programming...
Call your dealer.. (and ignore the CDMA/GSM argument other than now you've learned that there are 2+ different technologies in use for cellphones)

GSM: Global System for Mobile Communication.
GSM is the dominant 2G digital mobile phone standard for most of the world. It determines the way in which mobile phones communicate with the land-based network of towers.
GSM is one of two major mobile phone technologies in the U.S. The other is CDMA. Cingular and T-Mobile use GSM. Sprint and Verizon use CDMA. GSM is more prevalent in most other parts of the world, and especially in Europe.
Although GSM and CDMA provide similar basic features and services to end-users, (such as voice calling, text messaging, and data services,) they operate very differently at many technical levels. This makes GSM phones completely incompatible with CDMA networks, and vice-versa.
The most visible feature of GSM are SIM cards. SIM cards are removable, thumbnail-sized smart cards which identify the user on the network, and can also store information such as phone book entries. SIM cards allows users to switch phones by simply moving their SIM card from one phone to the other.
