i installed the software onto computer..

at main screen asks.. install/read manual..

the read manual doesnt wanna open.

so i installed and then it says connect phone.. i do.. the lil clock thing spins for 20min and then finally the phone pops up on right..

it never stops "initializing" and never is able to read the phone... or can i transfer anything to the phone..

the initializing screen just stays up and everything doesnt wanna open because it cant connect to phone.

i have the right cable, a more than capable laptop, and the newest version CD... whats going on. anyone to help?

    thank you.

I had a similar problem with my V3c. However, the disc that was supposed to install the driver, and software...didn't. I went to the parent site, and there was a driver, and software download for my phone. It was written on the 26th of January...of this year! I think that there might have been a conflict with a recent Windows patch, or something. Anyway, the disc wouldn't work, but the download did. I'm not sure what kit you have, but mine's Mobile Action. It's a free download, so....go to www.mobileaction.com and enter your phone, and carrier. Everything worked for me after that.

I don't know how your first install might have affected your computer. If you connected your USB cord before you installed the driver, you might have messed up the registry. I can't sy from here, but I do a back-up image file with Norton Ghost. Any mistakes can be fixed, no matter what they are. I initiated the driver, then it askes me to connect the phone. The driver finished installing, and I then installed the Mobile Action software. I did have problems from earlier when the disc would not install, and I did a system restore from my protected file before trying the second attempt with the downloaded file. ALSO, I disconnected from the internet, and shut down my Anti Virus software. In some cases AV software can block some installation actions. I don't know if I needed to do that, but I did, and it worked.

Actually, I think this one is better. It has multiple different drivers offered by other RAZR users.

OK, did you download both the software...and the driver? There were two files. I saved both files to my desktop, not "run". Then I disconnected my internet connection, and disabled my A/V software. First, I installed the driver. Then, when I am promted...attach the USB & phone. When the phone is recognized it will take off & install. I then opened the software. I left the phone hooked up the whole time. When it was done, a picture of a phone appeared as a windows type pane. There may be other issues involved that might have something to do with your settings. I just can't say, without being there. I guess you can try to restart your computer, and re-try the install. Beyond that, I don't know.

From what you are telling me, it sounds like you didn't get the driver. You might have just gotten the software.
