You'd think that a $300 RazrV3 would be a good phone, right? Well, there's a design flaw and it's dust under the screen. The screen is NOT airtight.
I bought two V3's 4-weeks ago and had them both replaced within a week because of the annoying dust. Now the replacements have dust too! Look at other forums and there's plenty of mad people. Motorola will look at the phones but you have to send them in and it takes a month! Even the TMobile senior tech has the same problem, only they don't call it a flaw, only a design. TMobile will not give refunds. I find it pathetic that both Motorola and TMobile rip us off like this. They DO NOT stand behind their products. And there's plenty of clueless people being taken advantage of. Like myself. I'm already out $35 in shipping and counting. What a friggin rip. What can we do???

I am sorry to hear that so many people are having this problem. I find it interesting that I have had my V3c for 2 months now and have not experienced this problem. I am guessing that Motorola fixed this "design flaw" with the CDMA version.

Then why are you in this discussion?

Never assume. Didn't your mother teach you that? It has NOT been resolved. A second side is not needed here, only solutions. Just mucks up the thread, as does your reply. If you aren't part of the solution, then you're part of the problem.

Let's all calm our fiery tempers and take a step back to review this situation. Tony, maybe you are just very careful with your phones, I for one treat mine like it's made of pure gold, not a single scratch in over 3 months.
If we do a CPF search of our site with two keywords, "razr" and "dust" it is obvious a lot of people have had this problem. I'm not saying you are all abusive to your phones, but where did the dust come from? Keep in mind Tony did not say any of you did anything wrong to get dust in your phone, he simply said he hadn't experienced the problem, so don't flame him for it.
If you are keeping your phone in your pocket, then it's probably dryer lint. Motorola does not recommend keeping your phone in your pocket, and the best thing you can do is get a case or clip to wear it on your belt. Also, I have not heard of anyone having this problem with the V3i or V3c yet.
Instead of bickering over who did what to make their phone get dust under the screen, let's try to be constructive about this situation. Have you called Motorola to complain? If the problem is as widespread as it appears to be, they should be aware of it, and will probably do whatever is possible to correct the situation for you.
Let's give a little more info about our phones to help keep others from having this problem. Are you using the original razr, or do you have one of the black or pink models that have more recently come out? Is it possible there is a design flaw that has already been corrected? If so, it might be as simple as going to a Cingular store and swapping phones at no charge.
You all need to contact Motorola, or your service provider, and see what can be done to correct the situation. Chances are they will replace or repair the phone at no cost to you. This would be the first thing I'd do, so please check into it.
Can we all just try to be positive and constructive about this situation instead of going for each other's throats and bashing our phone manufacturers?

1. this is my 2nd replacement phone from TMo - dust is in there too
2. Moto says they'll keep my phones for a month for repair
3. why haven't my past 12 phones - Moto and others - ever get dust? Same MO
You see, I don't take in in the b*tt like some of you do. I pay alot of $$ for something, I expect it to be a good product
And yeah, each phone got dust starting about the 3rd week, right after the 2-week grace period ended. The replacement phone got dust too, after 1-week.

1. apologize for that remark to all of the cpf members!
2. has it ever crossed your mind that manufacturing companies have numerous production runs? therefore, a razr made in january may/may not have problems that one made in march has/does not have.
3. just quit being rude. if you are here for that, leave. see #1 or you won't be here long.

Just to throw my .02 in here...(I'm always good for that)...
Ranthony has posted 19 complaints about his Razr (mind you, they comprise the entirety of his contribution to this forum and the attached alt.cellular.motorola forum). When Tony stepped in to state that he has not personally experienced this problem, he got his head (figuratively) bit off. It seems to me that Ranthony is not interested in another point of view or possible solutions to the issue. He just wants to vent some steam to anyone interested in listening. I believe that he is hoping others will jump on his bandwagon and perhaps boycott Motorola. Personally, I think that is crap! I mean no disrespect to Brad, but it is hard to stay positive in the presence of such outright negativity!
Ranthony - if you are so upset with Motorola and T-Mobile, stop buying their phones and services. Don't bring your overwhelming negativity into this or any other forum. It is apparent that you are not interested in solving the problem, but simply want to make as much noise as you can about it. As for the rest of us, we seem to be very happy with our Razrs and other Motorola phones. Why would you come in here and try to shake that up? What gives you the right to do that?

Paul you're way off. You tell me to never buy a Moto product again? That's the coward's way out. I've never had any problem in the past with Moto. Just this model. AND I expect a trouble free product. Yuo don't? These phone are 3 weeks old. One a replacement. All have the design flaw. Others have it too. It's too bad you don't know the diff between a consumer complaint and negativity. If you're happy with your Razr, then don't post a reply on this topic. You need some consumer lessons buddy. Evidently, you have had zero experience in life with faulty products or else you wouldn't post such immature replies. Grow up, get a life, and join the rest of us on the consumer bandwagon!

someone needs a timeout.
negative comments about a product are one thing, rants are even acceptable, but hurled at cpf members are not acceptable.

Nic and Paul and Tony are all perfectly in line with what they are saying! It's obvious our "guest" didn't read our rules before he started ranting and raving here! If you have an opinion, someone else is going to have a contrasting opinion, and they have that right to express their opinion as long as they are respectful toward each other. Ranthony, you have not been very respectful of anybody whose opinion differs from your own, and that's why you're WRONG. You have a nasty filthy mouth that I hope you don't kiss your mother with, and you need to apologize for your nastiness or you will not be welcome back to our site.
