    Ok I have a V3 with Cingular...
But I don’t always want to carry a phone that is worth $200 +/_ (Mileage may very)
I run and other stuff that could cause loss or damage of the Cool Phone.
I have the “Wonderful” Insurance …After deductible and yearly dues I could buy a new phone!!

So is there any way to use a second phone like my old V400 with the same number ….SO if I am going to work in the mud I could just turn off the V3 and turn on the V400 and get all my Calls.

The way I see it if you were going swimming you would not were a 3pice suite …. If I know I am going to put my phone in harms way …...why should I not be able to receive calls.

Sorry if this sounded stupid …

    Graham

Howdy Howdy Graham, and welcome to CPF...

Sure just pick up a cheaper phone, like the Nokia 6010, then take the SIM card out of the V3 and put it in the 6010. The phone number is the SIM actually, not the phone.

Think of the SIM card as your hand, and the phone as a glove. It's still your hand no matter how many gloves you put it in. Your hand will always have the same fingerprints (phone number), and you can wear those cheap $1.00 a pair rubber gloves for washing dishes or the really spendy pair of $5000 100% Yak butt leather gloves with humming bird eyelashes stitching.

You'd never wear the rubber gloves to the opera and you for sure wouldn't use those Yak Butt gloves to wash dishes... mainly because they would smell like wet YAK!

Oh and don't worry about us being rough with you, because you'll learn to like it rough!

Interesting... But I'm going to assume it has to be a phone with an accessible SIM??? I just opened my old Sanyo 8100 and have no idea where the SIM goes. Is this idea (swapping SIMs) limited to certain phones? Or, how do I figure out how to swap my Razr sim with my old phone?

You won't, because the Sanyo is not GSM, but rather it's AMPS 850 / CDMA 850 / CDMA 1900, so it will not work with Cingular's GSM network.
