I keep getting strange blank messages that contain nothing but a symbol that looks like a screwdriver pointing upwards and an"@" right beside it. I cannot reply to it, nor does the message have content. I get at least 2 per day, sometimes at night time. Anyone know how to stop this?

Re: Getting Strange text messages
Um sounds like it may be be an issue for your provider to fix. Take it in for a look, maybe even score a new phone :P

Actually, its not that bad, I just got the internet ans sms working. I am just wondering why these messages are being sent. Other text messages work fine.

Re: Getting Strange text messages
What you are seeing is ^@ or ^_@. This is common when you buy a Motorola that is made oversees. You will see these characters when you have a voice mail message. It is mainly common with those that have T-Mobile as their provider. But the problem can be fixed. Let me know if you want my help.

Re: Getting Strange text messages
Even if you configure your Motorola to carrier's settings you will still get that ^@ or ^_@ characters. Motorola has factories all over the world. The "factory unlocked" version that they sell are made oversees were not designed to the US specs. But the phone does work but it needs to be inline with the specs of Cingular or T-Mobile. The US carriers have different specs from those carriers in Asia or Europe.
Some of you might be seeing the roaming triangle on as well. There is a way to get rid of the roaming triangle and the ^@ or ^_@ or _@ characters. You need to hack into your phone using various programs and do some seem editing. I have a Motorola V620 and the V635 and I was able to fix the problems on both phones. I also helped someone with a Razr V3i get rid of the weird characters.
If you need help just send me an email.

Re: Getting Strange text messages
Razrchick, this problem has nothing to do with T-Mobile.
Danielup, I had the same problem with my special edition unbranded Razr, All you need to do is change your voicemail number in your message settings to stop getting those text messages after you get a voicemail, call customer service and have them run through the voicemail number settings with you and tell them to give you an alternate one.
As far as the roaming indicator goes, that does not affect the performance of the phone nor do you get billed for roaming charges, don't worry.
