I have a Moto V551 with the phone tools v 4.0.4b. I cannot find any way to update the SIM card with phone tools. Is there a function in phone tools to do this?

BTW, I use MS Outlook for my contacts on the cell phone. Is it generally considered wise to not have Outlook open when running phone tools, particularly if updating the Outlook phone book with phone tools?

    Thanx.

It's "My Tel. Numbers" that I want to update. I had assumed they were on the SIM card. I can bring them up on my phone by hitting the middle menu hard key followed by the # key.

I remember when I first got the phone I entered them manually on the phone, but was hoping MPT could do it. They don't appear to be part of the Phone Book.

I just checked the manual and it is on the SIM card. The reason I put a couple of numbers there were to have them speedily handy. I could never remember my own cell, so with it on the SIM card I could find it quickly when asked for it.

jangell2 you can enter any numbers in there that you want at any time. You don't need Phone tools to do that.

You just bring up the menu, scroll to the entry line and hit the middle of the arrow keys and hit edit.

It's in the manual as well.

Really won't matter if it's open or not, because if you want to create a phone book (contact backup), MPT is going to open it up anyway so you can name the file and tell OL where you want to save it.

And no you do no UPDATE the SIM card in any fashion using MPTs.

Yeah, I figured that was likely. I was hoping to use MPT since it would be easier to type in stuff then using the phone itself.

For the normal contacts for the phone book it is eaiser and you can do just that. The one section for entering 4 numbers in MY NUMBERS, needs to be done using the phone.

Now of course you can COPY and PASTE any contact info (text or numbers) and paste that info to the MY NUMBERS area of the phone if you like, so then you don't have to type anything, if all you want to do is save typing time.
