Is my SLVR unlocked?

I just bought a SLVR L7 overseas in the middle east. How can I tell if my phone is unlocked so I can use my cingular sim back home. I'm currently running a vodafone sim on it right now.

If you bought it overseas without a contract, more than likely it is unlocked. But there is only one way to find out, slide it in. If it works and Cingular is shown on the home screen, then it is unlocked.

I just tried and I am not in the US so I have no service. Is there any other way of finding out with my cingular sim will work with this phone? Also is it just the North American SLVR's come with Itunes? My buddy has one he got from cingular and it has itunes where as mine does not.
