I just got this Motorola V361 phone, I threw a few Mp3's onto it. The Manual tells me where to put them all and they are in the right places. I can see the Mp3's in the audio player and listen to them.

I can not get the phone to use the mp3's on specifed phonebook numbers. I got a 1024mb card inside it, swiched all numbers I had to "phone" instead of "simcard". So i should be able to use the mp3's that I threw onto the 1gig stick.

When i go to phonebook, pick a number and scroll down to "ringerid" and look through the list, none of the Mp3's are listed, even tho they are the right formatting. I tryed doing the same with a wallpaper or caller picture and no go for either.

Anyone know any remidies for this? I've been looking through random sites and the motorola home and I am not finding crap. My phone provider is Unicell by the way.

No remedy's, if I'm not mistaken your phone instead of itunes has just a mp3 player on it, and it will not set the mp3 files as your ringtones (unless) these are tones and not full lenth mp3s then all you have to do is go to your ringtone folder use your soft menu switch storage device-highlight the tone you want and hit your soft menu again and select move and move to your phones mem. The prob is your phone will not play ringtones from the sd card, why you ask? Beats the $hit outta me, their just funny like that.

Re: Need MP3 Ringtone help. V361

ok I got good news and bad news for u, the good news is that u can put mp3 ringtones the bad news is that u can't select them when they are on the transflash card, u can only select them when they are on the phone, meaning You have to transfer the mp3s to the phone memory to use them as ringtones. Hope this answers your question and please let me know if it works so we can close this thread, thank you

To get the ringtones onto the phone you'll need to purchase the usb cable for it and either buy mpt or do a search on this forum and u should find a download link for it. Once u have both items u should be able to transfer ringtones, pics and vids to your cell.

Re: Need MP3 Ringtone help. V361

The way i got my MP3's to my phone is trhough a USB cable. none of the pictures or ANYTHING show up except the music in the lame ass java music player. and it seems it doesnt matter where i put mp3's for the player.

Ive looked through the manual and all i got are make sure ringtones and pictures are in the specified areas. in which they are so its not a matter of be illiterate, its more of why the hell isnt it working like its stupposed to.

The onlything i havent tryed is geting some trype of software or something to do it, everytime i hook it up it says "some files or programs may not work" which talks about useing the phone while connected through usb.

Re: Need MP3 Ringtone help. V361

Alright, i went to the free download thing that was stickied and the stuff from there didnt help so i went and baught the software online from motorola them selves. Looks like its a proitary thing where i cant drag and drop. So i got everything squared away, onlything i got with now is

Request denied by phone (Forbidden (0x43))
Request denied by phone (requested entity too large (0x4D))

Certain Mp3 or Midi are just toobig for the transfer or something. The phone has about a gig to throw crap onto so memory isnt a problem. Know of any really good re-encoders to put those larger scale frequencys and actual size down a bit?

Re: Need MP3 Ringtone help. V361

To make the file smaller (MP3) you will have to change the bitrate, I don't know how u change the size on a midi since I don't use those tones, you can use DBPowerAmp to reduce the bitrate on the mp3 files, also I don't think you can fit more the 7 or 8 tones into the phone itself, unless the tones are less then 10 secs . As for the message u got (Denied messages) it's telling u that the phone is full and you are out of memory on it. Hope this helps a little

Thanks, yeah. this is kinda BS with the phone. it should store to the actual card and not the phone, you need a card to even swich stored numbers onto the phone so WTF? Id like to go slap th friggan hell outa all of them. I guess i just need to do some bitrate modifying and some croping.
