I just bought a V551 on ebay, and the outside housing has a hairline crack, which does not affect the operations of the phone. I am wondering if I should buy a parts phone and replace the housing, or go to the Cell Phone Shop and buy a new housing for it in the color of my choice.
I dont know how hard it will be to change it over, was hoping somebody could help if they have ever done it before.
btw, heres a price breakdown:
broken v551 on ebay, roughly $5-10 + shipping
new housing from CPS - $13.90 + shipping
Silver Housing For Motorola V551 - Housings For Motorola V551
the torx driver - $2 + shipping
Torx #6 Screwdriver - Kyocera SoHo / K4130
faceplate removal tool - $3 plus shipping.
Faceplate Removal Tool Kit - Sanyo SCP-5300
also, could I just take this unlocked phone where I have service and have them change it over instead of buying the torx driver and removal tool?
thanks

Re: advice on fixing my V551
Ok the operation is a simple one for someone with limited machanical skills, one thing though. All your going to need is your t6 and your faceplate, once you track down all the screws it's simple from there.
