I had ordered a new pink SLVR L6 phone from ebay, it worked for a day then just went to emergency mode and could never find the right network to work so i got a refund.

My question is, are the SLVR "L6" phones only supposed to work in Europe etc? If i got a SLVR L2 would i have the same problems or not? The cingular rep said that the L6 phones are not even supported in the U.S.

It depends if the phone supports the bandwidth that your cell provider uses. My provider (Cellular One) primarily uses the 850 band, but it also uses the 1900 band in select areas. A friend of mine had a tri-band L6 that would work with Cell One in certain areas, but once he went outside of the areas that use 1900, the phone would go into emergency mode because it didn't pick up on the 850 band. There is a way to rectify this, but it is rather complicated and you need some programs that are kinda tough to find, and even tougher to use if you don't know what you are doing. You just gotta be a little more vigilant when looking to purchase those L6's. I have seen a few that are quad-band, which will work on pretty much any GSM network, but I have also seen a lot that are tri-band only.
