    Hi all,

Was wanting to know if there was a way to remove the manufacturer ringtones? They seem about useless, and when I hook up the data cable to my pc, they just can't be found..

    Any ideas?

    Thanks bunches!

    Re: Removing Ringtones?

Not a good idea to remove the factory ringtones. Some of them need to be in the phone for it to function properly. I have experimented a lot with trying to figure out which ones they are, and have been unsuccessful. I thought I had it all figured out and went through and deleted the ones I thought I didn't need, which resulted in a bricked phone. In all reality, save for a few, the factory ringtones do not take up very much space, and you have little to gain by deleting them. However, if you feel that you absolutely must get rid of some of them, here is a link that will give you some information on how to go about this task. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply Moto, your post convinced me enough not to mess with it, does the same happen with their beautiful wallpapers (cough) that came with the phone?

    Have a wonderful week!!

    Re: Removing Ringtones?

No, it is safe to delete the stock wallpapers. There is one, however, that is used in the boot sequence of the phone, and that one must not be removed. I think it has a different file extension on it, so it should be easy to distinguish it from the rest. It has been a while since I have done any major hacking on these phones, I apologize for my rusty memory.

Thanks for the reply Moto, no apologies needed. I appreciate any feedback someone can give me.

I am using the motorola software and usb cable to transfer items on and off my phone, but when I access the wallpapers, the ones that are stock are not seen. Is there some place I can access these files, and see the extensions, maybe I can distinguish from that point. Again thanks, and to you and yours a wonderful christmas

    Re: Removing Ringtones?

You need a program called P2KManager. You can find it over at Motomodders.net. Just register a free account, and you will be granted access to the downloads section. That program is located there. Once you have it, you will need to install the necessary drivers. Start the program, and plug in your phone. It will prompt you to search for drivers. Set it to look in a specific folder, then point it at P2KMan/drv. It needs to install like 5 or 6 drivers. After you do all that, you will then be able to access all the files in your phone, including the stock wallpapers you want to delete. Hope that helps. BTW, Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.
