You'll need to get a memory card reader and hook it to your computer, otherwise no go.

This will not do any good, as the W315 does not use a memory card. Your best bet is to download Motorola Phone Tools (MPT). You can find download links in these forums, by simply searching.

I've been able to get this to work. I use Alltel as a carrier. PM me, and I'll give you the link to the thread that shows how.

Unfortunately, it's not as simple as logging into your phone with MPT and loading songs. You have to use a 3rd party program like BitPim to access the phone's directory. Even still, after you locate the right directory to load the tones, you need to edit an additional file called "__list__" with a hex editor to reflect the changes you're making. The "__list__" file acts like a table of contents of sorts for the phone's software, pointing the device to the audio files that can be used as tones.

Read the post carefully, noting the issues about file size, bit rate, tone length, and amplifying your tones (using an audio program) to a level that will broadcast loudly enough over the phone's speaker. There's also an apparent bleeding issue with the media player that the phone uses, where if you switch to a ringtone that is shorter in duration than the one you just used, it will play your new tone, and the remainder of the time from the previous tone. For example if your new tone "newtone.mid" is 17 seconds long, and your old tone "oldtone.mid" was 19 seconds, you're going to get a full play of "newtone.mid" and 2 more seconds of "oldtone.mid" after it's done. To correct this, go ahead and add silence to any tones that are shorter than the longest tone you've got -- that should fix the issue.

Wallpaper's easy: trim a photo to 120x120 pixels, and load it to the correct directory. Reboot, and voila.

I've successfully uploaded 2 tones to my phone, and changed the wallpaper to a custom .jpg photo of my daughter Not sure how much more room I have, but I'll probably just swap out tones when I want more anyways.

If you need help, feel free to email or pm me, and I'll see what I can do for you. Good luck!
