Re: Guide to setting mp3s ringtones on KRZR

I just got a new KRZR (k1 model) last week and wow, it was a whole lot easier than all this.

~I bought a 1GB micro SD card and inserted in the back.
Also you might then have to change your setting as follows,
Settings, Connection, USB Settings. change to Memory Card.
~I hooked up a USB cable into the miniUSB port on the phone.
(I already had one of these cables laying around the house which came with my digital camera. Also comes with MP3 players.)
~I browsed the folders on my computer, using the phone as a mass USB storage device.
(If the files don't show up, go to Tools\Folder Options\View and change the option to display hidden files and folders.)

~By copying/pasting songs into the mobile\audio folder, I was able to go into My Stuff\Sounds to access the .MP3 song files that are stored on the card. From here I can select a song, go to Options, and Apply As: Ring Tone. Easy as that.

~By placing the songs in the mobile\ringtone folder, I was able to edit a contact in my address book, edit the Ringer ID field, and browse to the files located in here (and it also allows you to pick files from the Audio folder here too).

I placed some ringtone files I made myself (with audio cropping software, to trim some songs down into cool ringtones) into the Ringtones folder. Note that I cannot see those files when looking in My Stuff\Sounds if they're in that folder. So if you're having problems, make sure you're putting the songs in the right folder so the phone knows where to read them from.

So put songs in the Ringtone folder if you only want to use them for ringtones for individual contacts (ringtone ID). But put them in the Audio folder if you want to use them for your phone's overall ringtone, as well as put them on playlists and/or just listen to them.

At least, this is what works for me & my phone. Hope this might be helpful for somebody else too.

I was able to find TONS of music clips (under 20 secs) to use as ringtones on the torrent websites. I use Isohunt.com and search for ringtones.

Re: Guide to setting mp3s ringtones on KRZR

Alright... I've done this... and I have the KRAZR RED, its a K1 as well... And I don't have a "My Stuff" Folder... but I can get to my audio files another way.. but there is no option to apply as ringtone on any of my new mp3 files, only on the files that were installed on the phone from factory... are there specific specs that the mp3 needs to have in order to work?

Pretty sure you can just use sites like ventones or Free Ringtones Maker to do this much easier.
