Maybe I am dense, but I struggled to record a name I could later use to dial a number. After fumbling around with different buttons on the left and right side of the phone I could finally see an icon next to the name in my directory that I was trying to create. I experimented with holding the phone at different angles and distances and nothing seemed to work. Then, as if by magic it seemed to record the name I was speaking. The only indication I received is the icon in my directory entry for the name
There are no specific instructions on this topic in the user manual I downloaded from Motorola's web site.
Now that I have a voice recording of the persons name I want to call, I thought to test it out. The user guide says to press the "voice call" button on the right side of the phone and speak the name.
I do that. Nothing happens. Do I have to have a headset connected to make this work?
I have a new Garmin c550 bluetooth enabled GPS unit that I paired with the V360. Cannot make the V360 place a call this way either.
Suggestions?

Re: Problem getting voice dial to work - the sequel
CORRECTION
After I pushed the send button to post this question, I thought to try the exercise again by making a call to the person whos name I recorded. Darned if it didn't work this time! Is this feature just naturally unpredictable?
I still have to get the Garmin to initiate a call, though.
