Looking for a rugged phone

Hi all !

I am rather rough on my phones. Most of the current line up of phones are waaay to delicate for me and don't survive long.

I have heard that Motorola will be releasing a rugged phone but have never seen it, nor do I have the model number. Can anyone tell me 2 things:

1 - How rugged this thing will really be
2 - Any release dates

not sure about this, but have you checked the motorola site?

also, what carrier are you with? I know in terms of rugged phones, verizon has the gz'One Boulder (casio manufacturer). You can check specs on the verizon version here: G’zOne Boulder™

of course, if you are a fan of phone modding I wouldn't suggest it seeing as how I've yet to come across a site that has any useful info on hacking the thing. It seems like no one has even attempted it, yet wants to rely on everyone else to tell them how to do it. someone has to bite the bullet though and I think this is what I might end up going with on my Ne2. If I don't like the ringers on it though I'll just put it to vibrate all the time (or silent).

I am in Canada with Rogers. The Motorola site still (as of 5 min ago) does not show the new phone.

What I remember is that it is a flip style phone. It looks like a very ruggedized Razr phone.

#1) Don't buy a flip phone or slider !!!
#2) Buy a Otterbox case or something similar.
#3) Get insurance!

A solid phone is a one piece - Blackberry Pearl or Sony W810 - Both have great reception

i could say some things about open face phones myself. i hate them. even if you keep the keypad locked theres always the possibility that it can become unlocked and ruin your day. no thanks, ill stick to a phone where the keypad is concealed by a flip or slide.

I have seen on many occasions guys thought there open face phone was off but did not hang up with the person.
Very embarrasing things can happen!

Motorola Renegade v950 ?

It has rubber around the edges and on the buttons. I dont know how strong it actually is, but it is one of the phones im considering buying. If I do, I will throw it at a wall and tell you what happens. Not really though.
