I am trying to transfer mp3's/other to my W755 via USB cable. I have P2KCommander. However, I am unable to find the Motorola Software Update for this phone. It is not listed on the Motorola site, at least I can't find it.
I have been able to put my mp3's on the phone using VCast, that went well. I don't have a memory card, so I have to transfer the ringtones this way. Has anyone got this to work for them?
What do I need to use to do it?
Thanks!

funnily enough, if you go to Google and type "motorola software update" and click the button labeled "I'm Feeling Lucky" you get taken straight to this page:
Motorola - Support - Software Update
cheers..

Re: My ringtones to W755 - Can't find proper software
Hi spike,
I had already done that. Problem is, when I go to select my carrier, Verizon Wireless, the W755 is not listed. In fact, I just went thru the entire carrier list, & that phone is not under any of them. I did google how to do this, & the instructions I find tell me to download the update, yet the update seems nowhere to be found...

Re: My ringtones to W755 - Can't find proper software
the reason that your phone is not listed in the drop downs for your carrier is due to the fact that they do not provide updates for it. Regardless of that fact, the phone is still supported hardware wise for what you want to do.... suspending the hardware into p2k mode. just choose w755 from one of the other carrier should get the hardware aspect in line for you. Or just simply get it from here:
http://ted.servepics.com/hacktherazr...are_Update.exe
or here:
https://rsddownload.motorola.com/dow...are_Update.exe
not sure if those other two will have the drivers that you need. in that case, get the drivers from here:
http://ted.servepics.com/hacktherazr..._32_v3.5.0.msi (these are latest version motorola handset drivers for 32 bit computers. if you have 64 bit computer you will need to register at MOTODEV for free and do a search for "handset usb driver" and you will find the link for the 64bit version)
failing MSU method to suspend the phone, there are other things that you can do... but try MSU method first, then report back either way. I will need to know what operating system you have to tell you the alternate method of suspending the phone.

Re: My ringtones to W755 - Can't find proper software
Ok I downloaded the software from your links. I am using 32 bit Win XP. Here are the instructions i am following; I am good up to this point - "in P2K Navigate to /a/mod/my_ringers -Note- this is supposed to be a/brew/mod/my_ringers/ " I can't find that anywhere. So, I am stuck!
EDIT - I have discovered something here. After watching a youtube vid on how to do this, I see that when I do this - "Run P2KCommander.exe
on the right side, select /a P2K Phone System
Click refresh" That right side pane is not updating with the phone info. It is still showing files from my desktop. I can't see any phone folders. That is where I am stuck at.
First connect the phone to your computer. Make sure MSU is on.
Install all the drivers(Keep pressing next on new hardware wizard)
At this point MSU should say there are no updates. DO NOT CLOSE IT.
Run P2KCommander.exe
on the right side, select /a P2K Phone System
Click refresh
Wait
Now, make sure your MP3 only has letters, numbers, and spaces in its name. no symbols.
in P2K Navigate to /a/mod/my_ringers -Note- this is supposed to be a/brew/mod/my_ringers/
drag the MP3(from desktop or folder) into the P2K window.
Wait.
Now verify that the filesize is NOT 1024, and that it seems right(4-8 megs)
Close P2K and MSU.
Unplug your phone. It will seem like it froze. it did. Hold down the END button untill the phone resets. THen set the ringer like any other ringer. At this point, call yourself and make sure it worked. If your phone freezez while selecting it or getting a call, something went wrong.Last edited by katzcell; 09-18-2008 at 01:36 PM.

Re: My ringtones to W755 - Can't find proper software
EDIT AGAIN!!! UPDATE - NEWS FLASH!!!
I got it working! Details to follow...Stay tuned...
Ok, here is what I did. After confirming that the pc did indeed recognize my phone thru MSU, & that the snag *seemed* to be with PKCommander, I decided to go with an earlier version. I was using the latest vers., 5.05.
That was the problem. I went back to vers. 4.9C, & it worked like a charm! Thanks to all for your help. Verizon/Motorola doesn't make it easy, that's for sure.

Re: My ringtones to W755 - Can't find proper software
glad you got it sorted.
it seems that there are certain versions of p2k commander that need to be used with certain version phones. keep in mind that p2k commander is developed to be used with GSM phones (Verizon is CDMA), so there will always be quirks with using certain versions with certain phones.
