My mom broke her leg last night, and in all the confusion, her W490 ended up in the washing machine. I found it this morning, and blow dried it as much as I could. The SIM wasn't damaged, the battery still looks like it will charge, but there is condensation under the screen, and the screens don't go on. It seems like its working fine other than that, it turns on, and responds when I push buttons, although I didn't try calling out from it. so the speakers might be damaged, I didn't check.

For now, I gave her my W490, and I'm using my old RAZR. But I'd like to have my new phone back, we just upgraded less than two months ago. Is there any hope for getting her phone back in working order? I doubt it, but thought I'd ask...

Well, I guess it may be a bit late for my advice, but here goes. When I get electrical equip. wet like that, I don't rush things. I am not really a fan of the blow dry or oven method, either. What I have done is open the case, if possible, & let it air dry for as long as it takes.

I may place it under a lamp/bulb for some extra radiating heat, though. If I could do without the phone for a week or more, I would let it sit that long, drying out on its' own. Definantly not power it back on before all condensation has evaporated.

I washed an mp3 player once, it took a couple of weeks for the condensation to leave the inside of the screen. I also removed that battery & let that dry on its' own.

    Good luck...
