MOTOROLA Z6W as a USB MODEM

I tried to use my phone as a modem and connect to internet using the dial-up account that the university has given me. I pu the cell phone on modem mode; then installed the software from motorola.com. When connected to the laptop everything went perfect and I set up the new connection using the "MOTOROLA USB MODEM" that was added to my laptop modems.
Problem: It says "NO DIAL TONE" every time I try to connect using it.
What should I do?

well... who is your carrier. some carriers lock down the DUN functionality of their phones. and the only way to unlock that is to do a seem edit. I've done it to my Verizon Razr v3m, but I don't know if the same seem edit works for the Z6W.
