Razr v3 question

Hi i have a razr v3 my question is on my old phone when texting if you went over 140 chars it would automatically send the message as a mms in multiple parts. Now on the razr by default when i reply to a text it will always send it as a sms unless i create a new message as a mms. Its just kind of annoying i want to be able to hit reply when some one texts me and not have my message limited to 140 characters. Or if i do go over it will be sent as a mms.
