I have the verizon motorola w755 in purple. Yesterday I bought a laptop and an external hard drive, and the external hard drive came with a usb cable that fits my phone. i plugged it into my new laptop, and it said installing hardware, and I went to look for it on My Computer, and it wasn't on there. I went to the device manager, and it says the hardware is installed and up to date. I want to use the cable to get ringtones since my phone is lame and no longer lets me get free ringtones. help anyone??

Re: USB cable
Look in Control Panel - Phone & Modem, click the Modems tab, and see if there is a Motorola USB Modem in the list. If not, then either you need to download a driver for your phone, or your laptop cable may not be working like you want it to. If it's the cable, here's a site where you can get an OEM data cable for your W755:
OEM Motorola W755 USB Data Cable (SKN6371) - Cell Phone Data Cable & Memory for Motorola W755

Re: USB cable
I show "Motorola USB Modem" listings even when mine is not plugged in, but that's because it recognized my phone from earlier cable plug-ins. Try plugging the USB data cable into the PC, and then plug the other end into your W755. You should get a bubble message down in the taskbar that a new USB device has been detected. After that, it should show up in the Modems tab in Control Panel - Phone and Modem section. If not, it may be that your cable isn't allowing your PC to recognize the phone.

Re: USB cable
Have you downloaded Motorola Software Update (MSU)? If not, get it here:
Motorola - Support - Software Update
Then launch it. Thru MSU, your phone's driver will install, and then the phone should show up in Control Panel - Phone & Modem as a Motorola USB Modem in the Modems tab.

Re: USB cable
Well, it could be the cable itself. I think you should get a USB cable that is designed for your phone. Again, you can get a Motorola OEM USB data cable that will work with your W755 at the following site:
OEM Motorola W755 USB Data Cable (SKN6371) - Cell Phone Data Cable & Memory for Motorola W755
