I have an i880 Motorola phone. I currently use the standard battery and a BT60 battery up every day. I use three chargers, one at work , one at home and a car charger. These batteries charge on all three battery chargers. I bought a BT90 (5765) battery hoping to reduce my need to constantly charge batteries. The first battery would not charge. It showed fully charged when on the charger and discharged (low battery) when it was off the charger. I contacted the supplier and they sent a replacement battery. Same results. I contacted Motorola and they sent me another battery. Same story. Anyone have any Ideas?

    Re: Battery Help

Have you had this battery problem all along? How old is the phone? It's possible that the original battery started dying, and it's even possible that a replacement battery might have been a lemon. However, if your supplier is reliable (I would assume that Motorola would send a good battery), then the chances of getting two or three bad batteries in a row would be very slim. My guess would be that you have a problem with the phone (charger port?).

Thats what is weird. I have had no problem until I ordered the new, larger battery. My two existing batteries are working just fine. I have three of the 1640mah batteries and none of them will charge on any of the three chargers I have.

    Re: Battery Help

I take it that the BT90s are the 1640 mAh extended batteries? Let me make sure I understand this: your original BT60 quit holding a charge, so you replaced it with a BT90 (extended life)? And when that one wouldn't hold a charge, you replaced it with two more BT90s, which also wouldn't charge up? Doesn't sound like a problem with the phone charger port after all. Tell us more about the three different chargers themselves. Other than the original unit which came with the phone, where did the other chargers come from ... could that be part of the problem?

    Re: Battery Help

The three chargers are the one that came with the phone and attaches to the cradle which connects to the computer. I also use and identical charger without the cradle at work and a car charger. All three are rapid chargers and worked and are still working with my BT60 battery as well as a smaller battery. I tried charging the BT90 batteries on all three chargers.

I use my phone a lot during the day and always charge one of the two batteries each work and sometimes both even though they are still working fine. This is why I was trying to get a larger battery. All three BT90s were placed on charge overnight when they were received and origionally powered the phone for a short period of time until they started beeping low battery. On two occasions the phone actually shut off when I tried to see if the battery was actually low. Now they will not charge and start beeping immediately when the phone is powered up.

I can only assume that these batteries are the correct battery as Motorola asked for all the particulars about my phone before sending the replacement that came from them.

I don't know how three different batteries in a row could be bad, but I guess it could happen. Maybe if you ordered from a different vendor, e.g., DayDeal. You can check out all of the accessories they offer (including batteries) for the i880 here:

    Re: Battery Help

Make a long story short, people are selling the wrong batteries for the phone. Motorola sent me the wrong battetry for the phone. I now have the right number, 5826B, and I am trying to exchange the battery. Even the folks a Motorola seem confused about this issue as they have given me different information on several occasions. The latest is that there is no BT90 battery for this phone, only the origional BT60. I guess Motorola made the bigger battery cover for nothing. Thanks for all your help!

    Re: Battery Help

Final Outcome. Motorola now says no BT90 battery exists for this phone and says there is no larger battery cover available either. Although they have been very polite and have sent me the BT60 battery as I finally agreed, I think I am smoke blown up my posterior. I really do not like being lied to and intentionally misled. Since I have one of the not available larger battery covers, their statement that they were not available must be construed as an attempt to not provide all the correct information. Note they did not say they did not exist, only that they were not available. I have provided their battery number for the right battery and they will not acknowledge this is accurate or incorrect. I guess this is also an attempt to not provide all of the needed information. So much for customer service. Perhaps they should call it smoke and mirrors. I guess the smaller battetry is all I will be able to get but I am not a happy camper to say the least.

They don't. They just tell you what they want to say and ignore everything else. when you press for answers they transfer you to someone else in another area and back again. Most frusterating. they are always polite. they just will not answer direct questions about the correct battery.

    Re: Battery Help

Well, if you really want the BT90 for your i880, you could just order it from Day Deal (the link I provided in my previous post). I would check first to make sure the battery is in stock.

Seems like Motorola is making it complicated, but it shouldn't be. Either they have the BT90 or they don't. And if they don't, what about companies like Day Deal? Either they have this extended battery for the 1880 or they don't. And since they offer it on their website (see my link in post # 9), I would assume the battery is available thru them.
