AIM messageing

I just downloaded AIM on my cell phone so that I could talk to friends overseas. I am having trouble keying in text with this download. If I try to key in a letter it keys in words, some that don't make any sense. It is like it is stuck on word instead of letter and i can't figure out how to fix it. Please help!

Lets start with what kind of phone you have. That will help us assist you in turning of what sound to be like the T9 Text input on your phone. If you familiar with it, just find the setting for T9 and turn it off, or try searching the book for how to change it to better assist you in typing your words out.
