I have a sound bite (sentimentally important) that was sent and saved as a ringtone on my Motorola phone and I'd like to be able to take it off the phone to save it on a PC. I can't send/text it to anyone else either. How can I save this recording/ringtone on any other device? I've been told that the USB cords don't help and there isn't currently a microSD card in the phone.
I'm willing to invest in a card or a different product to get this soundbite. Help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you currently have service on the phone? You could send it to an e-mail address (in place of a phone number like you were sending a text) assuming it's under 600kb.

If not, here's how to do it with a microSD card. Make sure to get one under 8gb, like this: Amazon.com: Sandisk 4GB MicroSDHC Memory Card with SD Adapter (BULK Packaging): Computers & Accessories
They're pretty cheap. These directions can be reversed for what you want to do...

    Insert the Storage Card
    • With the battery cover off, hold the phone so that the phone screen is facing downward.
    • Insert the MicroSD card into the MicroSD slot with the gold prongs facing down.

    Format the Storage Card
    • Select Menu.
    • Scroll to and select Settings and Tools.
    • Scroll to and select Memory.
    • Select Card Memory.
    • Select Format Card.
    • Select Yes.

Transferring files from the Micro SD Card to the phone. (Pictures, Music, Video)
    • Select Menu.
    • Select Media Center.
    • Select Picture, Music and Video.
    • Select My Picture, My Music or My Video.
    • Highlight the file that you would like to transfer.
    • Select Options.
    • Select Move.
    • Select Yes.

Transferring files from the Computer to the Phone with an Micro SD Card Reader
    • If you are transferring files from your computer to your phone you need a Micro SD Card, aMicro SD Card Adapter, and a SD Card Reader.
    • Place the Micro SD Card Adapter into your SD Card Reader. (The SD card reader can be built into your computer, or you may purchase an accessory which plugs into an USB slot located on your computer.)
    • Locate your files.
    • Right Click on the file you would like to copy to the storage card.
    • Left Click on Copy.
    • Right Click on Start.
    • Select Explore.
    • Select My Computer.
    • Double Click on Removable Drive.
    • Locate appropriate folder. (Pictures go in the My Pictures Folder. Video goes into the My Video Folder. Music goes into My Music folder.)
    • Right Click on an empty spot in the appropriate folder.
    • Left Click on Paste.
    • Remove the Micro SD Card and place it in your phone. (You do not have to power the phone off.)
    • Your phone now has access to the files you copied from your computer.

Transferring files from the Computer to the Phone using a Micro SD Card
    • Connect your phone to your computer, using the Motorola micro USB cable.
    • From your home screen, select Menu.
    • Select Settings and Tools.
    • Select Tools.
    • Select USB Mass Storage.
    • Locate your files.
    • On your computer, right click on the file you would like to copy to the storage card.

Actually, try that last step with the usb cable before purchasing the microsd card. You may be able to access the phone file system and retrieve the file without the card.
