How-to: Moto E: Custom Ringtones and Notification Sounds

Transferring Audio Files from a Windows Computer:

1. Establish a connection between your Moto E and computer via USB
2. While viewing the home screen, slide the "Notification" bar down
3. Tap "Disk drive" if necessary
4. On the computer, click "open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" from the AutoPlay window
5. Click "OK"
6. Navigate to the location where you wish to add the audio files. NOTE: Generally, the "Media" folder should contain the "Ringtones", "Alarms" and "Audio/Notifications" folders
7. Open a second Windows Explorer window and navigate to where the desired audio files are stored on your PC's hard drive
8. Copy the desired files and paste them on your smartphone's memory, in the aforementioned folder(s)
9. Once the transfer is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray
10. Next up, click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
11. It's now safe to disconnect your smartphone

Changing the Ringtone for All Calls:

1. From the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
2. Tap "Settings"
3. Swipe to "Device" and tap "Sound"
4. Tap "Phone ringtone" under "Call Ringtone & Vibrate"
5. Select the desired ringtone from the list
6. Tap "OK" to confirm
7. Optionally, you can also mark the "Vibrate when ringing" check box

Changing the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:

1. Open the apps drawer
2. Launch the "People" application
3. Select the contact whose ringtone you wish to change
4. Tap the "Menu" icon depicting three vertical dots
5. Tap "Set ringtone" and select a ringtone from the list
6. Tap "OK" to assign the ringtone

Changing the Notification Sound:

1. While on a home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
2. Go to "Settings"
3. Under "Device", tap "Sound"
4. Tap "Default Notification Sound" under "System"
5. Choose the sound that you wish to use for notifications
6. Tap "OK" to save the changes
