Enabling Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap "All apps" while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and scroll to "Device"
  3. Tap "Battery" > "Menu" > "Battery Saver"

Changing the Battery Saving Mode Settings:

  1. Tap "Apps" from the home screen and go to "Settings"
  2. Scroll to "Personal" and tap "Location"
  3. Tap "Mode" and select one of the following options:
    • High accuracy: Uses Wi-Fi, GPS and mobile networks to estimate location
    • Battery saving: Uses Wi-Fi and mobile networks
    • Device only: Uses only the GPS to find your location

Lowering the Screen Brightness:

  1. Tap "All apps"
  2. Go to "Settings", scroll to "Device" and tap "Display"
  3. Tap "Brightness level" and adjust the desired brightness level
  4. Tap "OK"

NOTE: you can also adjust the brightness by swiping the notification bar down twice

Disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth:

  1. While viewing the home screen, drag the notification bar down
  2. Tap the icons associated with "Wi-Fi", "Bluetooth" and "Location"
  3. If the icons are removed of color, the setting is turned off

Changing Sync Settings for Apps:

  1. Open the apps drawer and go to "Settings"
  2. Scroll to "Personal" and tap "Accounts"
  3. Select the account you want to sync
  4. Tap the "Sync" icon and select the desired sync option

Minimizing the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Even though you may not use certain 3rd party applications that are installed on your phone, these apps can still affect your smartphone's battery life assuming that they run processes in the background. As such, to maximize battery life it's recommended that you disable or uninstall 3rd party apps you don't use. To do so:

  1. Tap "Apps" from the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Scroll to "Device" and tap "Apps"
  4. Access the "Downloaded" screen and select the desired application
  5. If applicable, tap "Disable". If not:
  6. Tap "Uninstall" and press "OK" to confirm

Switching from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Scroll to "Wireless & networks" and tap "More"
  3. Tap "Cellular networks" > "Preferred network type"
  4. Select "2G" or "3G". To return to 4G connectivity, select "LTE"

Updating the Android OS:

NOTE: Google's software updates sometime include fixes and improvements to battery life, so it's recommended that you keep your OS up to date. To check for updates on the Nexus 6:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Scroll to and tap "About phone"
  4. Check for updates, and if available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the software packages
