Transfer Audio Files from a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect your Nexus 6 to your PC via USB
  2. From the home screen, drag the "Notification" bar down
  3. Make sure the type of USB connection is set as "Disk drive"
  4. In the AutoPlay window from the computer, click "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer"
  5. Navigate to the "Media" folder on your phone and open the "Ringtones", "Alarms" or "Audio" > "Notifications" folder. NOTE: if a folder is missing you can create it manually
  6. Open a second Windows Explorer window and locate the desired audio files stored on your PC
  7. Copy the desired files and paste them on your phone storage in one or more of the aforementioned folders
  8. After the transfer is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon from the system tray, click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
  9. It's now safe to disconnect your smartphone from the computer

Setting a Custom Ringtone for Your Phone:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Scroll to "Device" and tap "Sound"
  4. Tap "Phone ringtone" under "Call Ringtone & Vibrate"
  5. Select the desired ringtone from the list and tap "OK" to confirm
  6. Optionally, enable or disable the "Also vibrate for calls" option

Setting a Custom Ringtone for a Specified Contact:

NOTE: You can't assign custom ringtones to contacts that are stored on the SIM card or the phone's internal memory

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Tap "Contacts" and select the desired contact
  3. Tap the "Edit contact" icon followed by the "Menu" icon depicting three vertical dots
  4. Tap "Set ringtone" and select the ringtone you wish to assign
  5. Press "OK" to confirm

Change the Notification Sound:

  1. Tap "Apps" from any of the home screens
  2. Go to "Settings" and scroll to "Device"
  3. Tap "Sound & notification"
  4. Tap "Default Notification Sound" under "Sound"
  5. Select a notification sound and tap "OK" to confirm
