Backing Up & Restoring Application Data:
- Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Swipe to "Personal" and tap "Backup & reset"
- Mark the "Back up my data" check box to back up Wi-Fi password, account data and other settings to Google's servers
- Mark the "Automatic restore" check box
NOTE: Application data will be automatically restored when signing in with the Google account used for backing up the data
Backing Up Contacts on a Google Account:
- Tap "All apps" from the home screen
- Go to "Settings" and tap "Accounts"
- Select the account you want to sync
- Tap "Menu" and select "Sync now"
NOTE: Contacts will be automatically restored when you sign in with the Google account used for the back up
Backing Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Connect your Nexus 6 to your computer via USB
- Navigate to the phone's storage and locate the media files you wish to back up
- Copy the files and transfer then in the desired backup location on your computer's hard drive
- After the transfer is done, click the "Mass Storage Device" icon from the system tray
- Eject the Nexus 6's virtual drive and safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer
Restoring Media Files from a Windows Computer:
- Establish a USB connection between the Nexus 6 and computer
- Go to the phone's storage and open the directory you wish to use for restoring the media files
- Open a second Windows Explorer window and locate the backed up files on your computer's hard drive
- Copy the files and paste them on your Nexus 6's storage
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone's storage from the system tray, and safely disconnect the device from your computer
