Using iTunes:

NOTE: With iTunes installed on a computer with access to the Internet you can sync the contacts on your iPhone with a Google account. Then you can re-sync the contacts from the account with the Moto G 2015

  1. Open iTunes on the computer
  2. Connect the iPhone to your computer via USB
  3. Once connected, click the iPhone in iTunes to view the summary page
  4. Access the “Info” tab and enable “Sync Contacts With
  5. From the drop-down menu, select “Google Contacts
  6. Sign in with your Google account or click “Configure” and select an existing account from the list
  7. Click “Apply” to begin the sync
  8. Switch to the Moto G 2015 and register the same Google account on it. Make sure you allow the account to sync contacts with your Android device

Using iCloud:

NOTE: Assuming you’ve used iCloud on your iPhone before, your contacts should be backed up on your iCloud account. If so you can access the account on a computer with Internet access, and export the contacts as a VCF file.

  2. Visit https://www.icloud.com/ and sign in with your account
  3. Go to “Contacts” and select the ones you want to share

  5. Once the file is downloaded on the computer, import it to “Google Contacts” or skip this step and:
  6. Connect the Moto G 2015 to your computer via USB, transfer the VCF file to the SD storage, and use the “Import” option in the “Contacts” app to import the VCF file’s contents to your phonebook

Using “My Contacts Backup”:

NOTE: While the methods above require access to a computer connected to the Internet, you can also transfer your contacts without these requirements, by using third party applications. My Contacts Backup is a 3rd party app for iOS that can be used to back up and send contacts via email.

  1. Launch the App Store and install “My Contacts Backup” on your iPhone
  2. Tap “Backup” to back up your contacts in a VCF file
  3. When completed, tap “Email” to compose a new mail with the VCF file attached to it
  4. Send the email to your own Gmail address
  5. On the Moto G 2015, open the email and download the attached file
  6. Open the “Contacts” app and import the VCF file to your phonebook on the Moto G

Via “Send Anywhere”:

NOTE: Last but not least “Send Anywhere” is another third party app for iOS and Android, which can be used to transfer contacts cross-platform through a P2P connection, without needing a computer.

  1. Visit the App Store and install “Send Anywhere” on your iPhone
  2. Install the application on the Moto G 2015, via the Google Play Store
  3. Launch the application on both smartphones
  4. On the iPhone, tap “Send” > “Contacts
  5. Select the contacts you want to share and tap “Send
  6. Lastly, select a method of transfer. You can tap “Receive” on the Moto G 2015 and enter the randomly generated transfer code from the iPhone. You can also tap “Generate QR Code” on the iPhone and scan the resulting code with the Moto G’s camera to begin the transfer
