Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Swipe to “Device” and tap “Battery
  3. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display
  3. If necessary, disable “Adaptive brightness
  4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the slider to the left to lower screen luminosity
  5. Tap “Sleep” in the “Display” menu
  6. Select a lower value, like “15 seconds

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By setting your accounts to sync less data, you can improve battery life on the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer and go to “Settings
  2. Swipe to “Personal
  3. Tap “Accounts
  4. Select the desired account type
  5. Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:

NOTE: You can disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS whenever these features are not in use. This can prolong your phone’s battery life considerably in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Notification” bar down
  2. Tap the tiles associated with “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” to disable these features
  3. You can change the way “Location” (GPS) works by accessing “Settings” > “Location” > "Mode” > “Battery saving
  4. To disable Hotspot, go to “Settings
  5. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More
  6. Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot
  7. Disable “Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot

Switch from 4G to 2G:

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Under “Wireless & networks”, tap “More
  3. Tap “Mobile networks
  4. Tap “Preferred network type
  5. Tap “2G” to disable 4G connectivity

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Some of your third party apps could affect battery performance even if you don’t use them – assuming that the apps run regular processes in the background. As such you can gain some battery life by disabling or uninstalling unused third party apps from your phone.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Under “Device”, tap “Apps
  4. Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the desired app
  5. Tap “Force stop” to disable the application
  6. To completely remove it, tap “Uninstall” > “OK
