Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
- Swipe to “Device” and tap “Battery”
- Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Go to “Settings”
- Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
- If necessary, disable “Adaptive brightness”
- Tap “Brightness level” and drag the slider to the left to lower screen luminosity
- Tap “Sleep” in the “Display” menu
- Select a lower value, like “15 seconds”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your accounts to sync less data, you can improve battery life on the long run.
- Open the apps drawer and go to “Settings”
- Swipe to “Personal”
- Tap “Accounts”
- Select the desired account type
- Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:
NOTE: You can disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS whenever these features are not in use. This can prolong your phone’s battery life considerably in the long run.
- Swipe the “Notification” bar down
- Tap the tiles associated with “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” to disable these features
- You can change the way “Location” (GPS) works by accessing “Settings” > “Location” > "Mode” > “Battery saving”
- To disable Hotspot, go to “Settings”
- Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More”
- Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot”
- Disable “Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot”
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- Go to “Settings”
- Under “Wireless & networks”, tap “More”
- Tap “Mobile networks”
- Tap “Preferred network type”
- Tap “2G” to disable 4G connectivity
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Some of your third party apps could affect battery performance even if you don’t use them – assuming that the apps run regular processes in the background. As such you can gain some battery life by disabling or uninstalling unused third party apps from your phone.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to “Settings”
- Under “Device”, tap “Apps”
- Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the desired app
- Tap “Force stop” to disable the application
- To completely remove it, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
