Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Scroll to “Device
  4. Tap “Battery” > “Menu
  5. Turn on “Battery saver

Lower Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
  2. Drag the “brightness” slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. For timeout options, go to “Settings
  4. Under “Device”, tap “Display
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower screen timeout duration, such as “30 seconds

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot when these features are unused, you can improve battery life in the long run. To do this:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth”, and “Location” tiles to disable these features
  3. For more GPS options, access “Settings
  4. Next, tap “location” > “mode” and select “Battery saving
  5. To disable Wi-Fi Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and tap the switch to disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Select “2G

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your applications / accounts to reduce sync, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings
  3. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal
  4. Select an account and disable the desired sync options

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party applications can perform regular background processes, so they can technically affect battery life even when they are not in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps
  3. Tap the drop-down menu above and make sure “All apps” is selected
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Tap “Force stop” to disable the app, or tap “Uninstall” to complete remove it

NOTE: You can also uninstall apps from your phone by opening the apps drawer, and dragging & dropping the app’s shortcut over “Uninstall” at the top of the screen.

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, and thus it’s recommended to keep the software up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates
  4. Check if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it. NOTE: This process will require at least one reboot
