Transfer Audio Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Moto Z Play to your computer via USB
  2. Turn on “File Transfer (MTP)” / “media device (MTP)” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the desired audio files on the computer storage and copy them
  5. Transfer the files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Notifications” / “Ringtones” / “Alarms” folders
  6. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Change the General Ringtone:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Sound & Notification”
  4. Tap “Phone ringtone” and select the desired ringtone
  5. Tap “OK” and you can optionally enable or disable “Also vibrate for calls”

Change the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:

NOTE: You cannot set custom ringtones to contacts stored on the SIM card or the device’s internal memory.

  1. Open “Contacts”
  2. Tap and hold the desired contact
  3. Tap “Edit” > “Menu”
  4. Tap “Set ringtone”
  5. Select the desired ringtone and tap “OK” to confirm

Change the Notification Sound:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Sound & Notification”
  3. Tap “Default notification ringtone”
  4. Choose the desired ringtone and tap “OK” to confirm
