Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, Wi-Fi passwords, settings to your Google account
- Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data and settings to be restored automatically when reinstalling apps and signing in with the backup account
Back Up Contacts:
- Open “Settings”
- Scroll to and tap “Accounts”
- Tap the desired account type and select the account you want to use for syncing
- If necessary, enable “Contacts” if necessary
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
NOTE: Contacts backed up using the method above can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with your Google backup account.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Moto G5 Plus to your computer via USB
- Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer and locate the desired media files on the phone storage
- Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC storage
- After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the Moto G5 Plus to your computer via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the PC storage
- Copy and paste the backup files back on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folder(s) they originate from
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
