WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all your personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes ringtones, media files, contacts, apps, downloaded content etc. Data stored on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected.

NOTE: Before you factory reset your device, check this thread for a guide on how to back up and restore data.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset
  4. If your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your password/PIN/pattern to proceed
  5. Tap “Reset phone” and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: In case you are unable to reset your device via Settings, you can try resetting it from the Android System Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing the following:

  1. First power the phone Off
  2. Next, press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
  3. After roughly 5 seconds, release both buttons and gain access to “Boot Mode Selection
  4. Press “Volume down” to navigate to and highlight “Recovery
  5. Press “Volume Up” to select the highlighted option
  6. At the “No Command” screen, press and release “Power” and “Volume Up” at the same time to gain access to Android Recovery
  7. Once in Recovery, press “Volume down” repeatedly to highlight “Wipe data/factory reset
  8. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  9. Select to delete “Userdata only” or “Userdata + personalized content
  10. Press “Power” to confirm
  11. Once the phone resets, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: If you have factory reset your device, it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “System
  3. Tap “About phone
  4. Tap “System updates
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the updates. NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot
