Back Up App Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings
  3. Scroll to “Personal
  4. Tap “Backup & reset
  5. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, passwords, and settings to your Google account
  6. Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data to be automatically restored when reinstalling apps or signing in with the backup account

Back Up & Restore Contacts:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to and tap “Accounts
  3. Select the account type and account you want to use for contact syncing
  4. If necessary, enable “Contacts” and tap “Menu” > “Sync Now

NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be automatically restored when you sign in with your Google backup account.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Moto device to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the desired media files on the phone storage
  5. Copy and transfer the files in the backup location on the computer
  6. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Moto G5S Plus to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the PC storage
  5. Copy and transfer the files back on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder
  6. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
