Back Up App Data:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal”
- Tap “Backup & reset”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, passwords, and settings to your Google account
- Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data to be automatically restored when reinstalling apps or signing in with the backup account
Back Up & Restore Contacts:
- Open “Settings”
- Scroll to and tap “Accounts”
- Select the account type and account you want to use for contact syncing
- If necessary, enable “Contacts” and tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be automatically restored when you sign in with your Google backup account.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Connect the Moto device to your computer via USB
- Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the desired media files on the phone storage
- Copy and transfer the files in the backup location on the computer
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the Moto G5S Plus to your computer via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the PC storage
- Copy and transfer the files back on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
