Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu
  4. Enable “Battery saver

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
  6. Tap “sleep” for timeout options and select a lower value

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run

  1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” (GPS) quick toggles to disable the features
  3. For more options go to “Settings
  4. Access “Location” > “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
  5. To disable Hotspot, tap “More” under “Wireless & networks” in the “Settings” menu
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set it off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Tap “Mobile networks
  4. Select “Preferred network type
  5. Enable “2G

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device
  3. Tap “Apps” and make sure “All apps” is selected from the drop-down menu at the top
  4. To disable the app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable
  5. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall

Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Personal
  3. Access “Accounts
  4. Select the desired account and change the available settings to reduce sync

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements, and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if a new update is available for download
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
