Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
- Tap “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Launch “Settings” for additional options
- Scroll to “Device”
- Tap “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
- Tap “Sleep” for timeout duration and select a lower value like “15 seconds”
Disable Unused Connected Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused – including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS – you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) quick toggles to disable the features
- For additional options, open “Settings”
- Go to “Location” and tap “Mode”
- Enable “Battery saving”
- To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
- Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switch off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: By changing your apps’ /accounts’ settings to reduce the amount of synced data, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
- Tap the account you want to edit
- Change the available options to reduce sync
Keep the Software Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to and tap “About phone”
- Access “System updates”
- Verify if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
