Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery
  3. Tap “Menu
  4. Enable “Battery saver

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings” for additional options
  4. Scroll to “Device
  5. Tap “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
  6. Tap “Sleep” for timeout duration and select a lower value like “15 seconds

Disable Unused Connected Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused – including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS – you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) quick toggles to disable the features
  3. For additional options, open “Settings
  4. Go to “Location” and tap “Mode
  5. Enable “Battery saving
  6. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & networks
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switch off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Enable “2G

Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing your apps’ /accounts’ settings to reduce the amount of synced data, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts
  3. Tap the account you want to edit
  4. Change the available options to reduce sync

Keep the Software Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone
  3. Access “System updates
  4. Verify if a new update is available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
