Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If an app on your phone freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably, or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try solving these problems by clearing the app’s cache and/or data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all the personal information stored within the app will be deleted, including settings, user profiles, login and credit card information, save files etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Apps” and make sure “All apps” is selected from the drop-down menu
  3. Select the desired app and tap “Storage
  4. Tap “Clear cache
  5. If clearing the cache didn’t fix the issues, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (check the WARNING above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering a factory reset, you can try solving these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can have similar results as a factory reset without losing any personal data on the phone storage.

  1. Turn the phone Off
  2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” simultaneously
  3. At the “Boot Mode selection” screen release the buttons
  4. In this menu, press “volume down” to navigate it and highlight “Recovery
  5. Press “Volume Up” to select the highlighted option
  6. At the “No command” screen, press and release “Volume Up” and “Power” at the same time for several times until you gain access to Recovery
  7. Once in Recovery, press “volume down” to navigate to and highlight “Wipe cache partition
  8. Press “Power
  9. After the cache is cleared, highlight “Reboot system now
  10. Press “Power” to confirm

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third-party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “Power” on the home screen
  2. From the power management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off
  3. When prompted to “Reboot to Safe Mode” tap “OK”. After the phone reboots, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be shown in the lower area of the home screen
  4. To uninstall an app, first go to “Settings
  5. Tap “Apps” and ensure “All apps” is selected
  6. Select the desired application and tap “Uninstall” > “OK
  7. Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your device as you would do normally
