Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the homescreen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease brightness
- Open “Settings” and tap “Display” under “Device”
- Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
- For timeout settings, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds”
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Device”
- Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use – including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location (GPS) – to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Open “Settings” for more options
- Go to “Location” for GPS settings, tap “mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- For hotspot, return to “Settings”
- Then tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switch Off
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps from the phone to potentially improve battery life.
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Apps” and ensure “All apps” is selected
- Tap the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
- To remove the app, tap “uninstall”
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open “Settings”
- Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Mobile networks”
- Tap “Preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce the amount of data synced by your accounts and apps.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Personal”
- Tap “Accounts” and select an account type
- Select the desired account and change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “About phone”
- Tap “System updates”
- Check if a new update is available
- If available, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
