Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to “Device
  3. Tap “Battery
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings
  4. Go to “Display” under “Device
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
  6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use – such as Wi-Fi, Location (GPS) and Bluetooth – you can avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings” and go to “Location” for GPS options
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
  5. For hotspot options, return to “Settings
  6. Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks
  7. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and set the switch Off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge and temporarily switch to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Tap “more” under “Wireless & networks
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “preferred network type
  4. Enable “2G

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Third-party apps can perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Apps
  3. Make sure you view “All apps
  4. Select the desired application and tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to turn the app off
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life.

  1. Open “Settings” and go to “Personal
  2. Access “Accounts
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to “About phone” and tap “System updates
  3. Check if new updates are available and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
