Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Device”
- Tap “Battery”
- Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Display” under “Device”
- Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
- For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use – such as Wi-Fi, Location (GPS) and Bluetooth – you can avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
- Open “Settings” and go to “Location” for GPS options
- Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- For hotspot options, return to “Settings”
- Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and set the switch Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge and temporarily switch to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “more” under “Wireless & networks”
- Tap “Mobile networks” > “preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Third-party apps can perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Apps”
- Make sure you view “All apps”
- Select the desired application and tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to turn the app off
- To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life.
- Open “Settings” and go to “Personal”
- Access “Accounts”
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “About phone” and tap “System updates”
- Check if new updates are available and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
